Aussie glamour couple Rice and Sullivan split
Australian swimming's golden couple, Eamon Sullivan and Stephanie Rice, has broken up, just a week-and-a-half out from the opening of the Beijing Olympics.
Sources have confirmed to The Age that the swimmers, who recently signed an endorsement deal with underwear company Davenport, called off their relationship about ten days ago.
They are scheduled to face the media today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the Australian Olympic swimming team is in training.
Tipped to dominate their respective events at the Olympics, Rice, based in Brisbane, earlier this year held the 400m individual medley world record, while Sullivan, from Perth, holds the 50 metres freestyle world record.
Sullivan, who competed at Athens in 2004, lends experience to an Australian Olympic swimming team of 43, almost one-third of which is comprised of Olympic debutantes.
Rice is among those making her debut in Beijing.
